In-house Health and Safety Training
Courses to suit your needs
Designed to be delivered in-house, the following courses are suitable for up to 12 delegates (unless otherwise stated). Some offer the option of sending delegates to our Associated Training Centre. A number of courses can be repeated 2 or 3 times a day (where indicated) according to your company’s needs.
Asbestos Awareness Training
This course is for all employees who are likely to come into contact with asbestos when carrying out construction/refurbishment of premises. It is a legal requirement that all who may come across asbestos in their day to day work have been provided with asbestos awareness training. If they will intentionally work on asbestos they must have had appropriate training specific to the tasks they will undertake. Any organisation that allows builders or maintenance personnel onto their premises should ensure that they have evidence of asbestos awareness training.
Health and Safety Awareness Training (up to 2 per day)
Helping you understand Health and Safety Law. Delegates are informed of their legal obligations for the safety of themselves and others. Ideal as an induction course for new employees, this course is also useful as a refresher for existing employees.

Introduction to OHSAS 18001 (up to 2 per day)
Delegates consider the requirements of management standards and how to implement them. These courses are ideal for managers, supervisors and any other employee who is or will be involved in the development and implementation of the standards.

Implementation of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 Training
Suitable for Directors and Managers, this course introduces the requirements of the ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 management systems. The course, may be the first of its kind to deal with both systems also starts delegates on the implementation process.

Health and Safety Risk Assessment Training (1 day)
This course arms delegates with an understanding of the Law and how it relates to risk assessment. Delegates also learn how to identify hazards/aspects, evaluate risks/impacts and identify control measures. It’s ideal for companies who want to train and retain their own in-house team of assessors.

COSHH Awareness Training (up to 2 per day)
Content on this half-day course includes information on the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations and how it impacts on work activities and processes. Ideal for employees involved in any way with hazardous substances during the working day.

Health and Safety Audit Training (2 days)
Delegates develop an understanding of the requirements of OHSAS 18001 and iso 14001. They also learn the principles of effective internal auditing. Particularly suitable for managers, supervisors and employees who intend to form part of the in-house auditing team.

Accident/Incident Investigation Training (1 day)
For employees with a duty to investigate accidents/incidents in the workplace, this one is designed to improve performance in relation to accidents. It defines accidents, illustrates costs of accidents, shows how to report accidents and examines accident investigation methods and techniques.

Managing Contractors Training (up to 3 per day)
It’s vital to know how to implement policies and procedures for vetting, selecting and controlling contract workers on site. Who should attend this short course? All managers, supervisors or maintenance personnel responsible for bringing in external contractors to work on-site will benefit.

Manual Handling Training (half day)
Ideal for employees whose activities include manual handling of loads, this course demonstrates the adverse effects of poor manual handling. It also highlights the benefits of applying good techniques and principles when carrying out manual handling tasks.

Manual Handling Instructor Training (1 day)
Restricted to 6 delegates, the course looks at how to adopt safe practices when lifting. It also shows how to prepare a training session and how to teach others to move loads safely. Course costs include all training materials necessary for delegates to deliver their own in-house manual-handling courses. It’s ideally suited to those managers, supervisors and employees with a requirement to teach others.

Fire Marshal Training (up to 2 per day)
Find out how fires start, how they spread and how you can control them. Delegates will take part in a practical fire-extinguishing session. The course is aimed at managers, supervisors and any other employees who have a responsibility for safe evacuation of the workforce.

IOSH Directing Safely (1 day)
This can be run in-house or at our Associated Training Centre. Designed for those Directors of companies who have legal responsibilities for Health and Safety, this nationally recognised course aims to provide an underpinning knowledge and understanding of the responsibilities and accountabilities that company Directors have in law.

IOSH Managing Safely (4 days)
Suitable for up to 12, this nationally recognised course can be run in-house or at our Associated Training Centre. Its intended audience is managers/supervisors, or anyone in your company with managerial responsibility for Health and Safety. Those attending will benefit from the underpinning knowledge which should help them more effectively manage Health and Safety issues within the areas under their control.

IOSH Working Safely (1 day)
This can be run in-house or at our Associated Training Centre, this course has national recognition and is suitable for employees at all levels. Content includes basic underpinning knowledge of Health and Safety Law, hazard identification, risk assessment, accident prevention and general Health and Safety principles.
