Health and Safety Internal Auditor Training

Course on Health and Safety Auditing

training notes

It is a requirement of OHSAS 18001, the international standard for health and safety management systems, that a company should monitor the key characteristics of its operations that can cause ill health or accidents. A systematic and independent audit programme carried out by internal staff on a regular basis is a fundamental part of that monitoring programme and is essential for ensuring adequate system performance. The objective evidence obtained provides the basis for corrective and preventive actions to deal with nonconformities.

Day 1 - provides delegates with a comprehensive overview of Health and Safety issues, legislation, the structure of the management system and key components such as Risk assessment and Continual Improvement.

Day 2 - (usually the following day but can be up to a week later) introduces the types of audits and audit principles, culminating in practical audit exercises under the watchful eye of the tutor, with feedback at the end of the day.

Day 3 - (½ day) optional session held approximately one month later, comprises a review of progress with audits, discussion of common problems and planning subsequent audit programme.

The multi media format of the course is very interactive, both for team building among the delegates and with the tutor.
