Identify potential emergency situations
It is a requirement of ISO 14001:2004, the international standard for environmental management systems, that a company should identify potential emergency situations that can impact on the environment and decide how it will respond. Delegates will be introduced to a formal methodology for emergency planning.
Delegates are given the opportunity to apply the classroom training with a practical spillage exercise.

To provide the background training and practical experience to enable company staff to
- learn from past incidents
- identify potential emergencies
- prepare a robust and comprehensive emergency plan to avoid but prepare to respond
- deal effectively with an on site emergency eg a spillage

Staff that will be responsible for emergency planning or part of the emergency response team

By the end of the course the participants will be able to:
- understand the key environmental issues and the legal framework
- prepare a comprehensive emergency plan
- know how to respond effectively but safely
- feel confident to deal with an on site spillage
